About me

Renzo Hättenschwiler

Following the completion of my university degree (lic.rer.pol. corresponding to master's degree, Management and Economics, University of Bern), I was on the road for many years in China, the USA and the Middle East. In Taipei and Beijing I dedicated myself to learning the Chinese language and culture.

At Comfone, a subsidiary of Swisscom, I was the Marketing Communications Manager. And as in-house editor of the webagency Nothing I composed science fiction, wrote cool concepts and hot marketing messages.

Tips for good translations

Please tell me the purpose of the translation. Texts for personal use are usually less demanding and therefore less expensive to translate. For important translations I propose a thorough proof-reading prior to publication.

Ideally, you send me the original texts as electronic files. Other formats, such as fax or text within graphics, generate additional work.

Customers and specialities

I work internationally over the Internet and translate for large corporations as well as for individuals. My fields of expertise are in particular computer science, electronics, telecommunications as well as business and marketing. I translate user manuals, documentation, entire web sites and many other types of documents.

Software localization

My first software localization was completed in 1993 for a Taiwanese computer company

Today, localization has become more efficient thanks to computer-assisted translation (CAT), but a great deal of experience in Usability, deep understanding of technology and good knowledge of the culture and software environment in the target language are still required for successful localization. I localize not only your software applications, but also your website. My working tool is Trados.
